So...monday night I went into preterm labor and had to stay at the hospital until wednesday morning!!! We first went to the hospital because we thought my water had broken and than I started having contractions and they weren't really stopping even with the meds. The one med they could send me home on to keep contractions at bay drops your blood pressure and mine is already really low (90s/50s) so I had to go for a long time without contractions in order to get sent home.
So now I'm home on pretty strict bed rest...I am not allowed to pick up Lowe, clean obviously, or even stand for the half hour to cook dinner. I'm supposed to stay off my feet as much as possible and lay on my sides as much as possible...I can't even go to church!!! And if anyone knows Lowe...they know this is going to be pretty darn difficult!!! Thankfully, family and friends are so helping out already; babysitting and dinners. I just feel like a bump on a log though and it's already driving me nuts after just a day and a half!!! And I'm going to be on this bed rest until the baby comes...at least this strict of bed rest until I hit 36 weeks which will be September 11th...so for the next 10ish days I'm stuck on the couch really only allowed up to use the bathroom and shower...sigh.
So...I'm needing some suggestions on things to do while laying on the couch or lounging in our recliner. I've got my Kindle so any book suggestions? I've decided to hand quilt Kingston's quilt now that I'm sitting around all the time...that should take some time but I need to alternate activities because I tend to get bored quickly ;) Tyler and Lowe are being really good about this...well, Tyler better than Lowe! I had to call my mom in after less than an hour of being home alone!!! Hopefullly once Kingstons comes or I can do more than act the cat, Lowe will not be so bossy and demanding and rebellious!
Wish us luck!!!

Bed rest is so hard, and I was only on it for 3 days! If you have a laptop you could try giving digital scrapbooking a go. Email me with questions as they come up! Move is "v" and learn your layers palette (which is the order everything is scrapped in). Then you can learn basic drop shadows and it's pretty easy from there. Email me as you have questions and I can try to help you out!
You can always reread Harry Potter, or Twilight, or the Hunger Games, or books by Shannon Hale, I love Oliver Twist if you're up to reading Dickens.
Also, have you heard of Pinterest? I can send you an invite if not. It's really easy to spend lots of time there planning out ideas. Again, you'd need a laptop though. I guess your bedrest is probably different, but my blood pressure always skyrocketed when I was sitting down for more than 5 minutes.
Good luck! Hopefully Kingston will stay put for a few more weeks until he's fully cooked!
Oh I am so sorry. Bedrest sucks. I was on it from 28 weeks until 36 weeks. I was hospitalized for a week and on magnesium sulfate. I too have low blood pressure and could not go home on meds because my pressure would be 60/40 on it. So I was on strict bedrest.
I am racking my brain on what I did. My dad started to read to me Dante's inferno. Pretty interesting. I had a book of all sorts of games like wordsearch, cross words, sudoku, mind teasers ect. Movies, books, cross stitch, I had a book of different card games and taught myself new games. Slept alot. Ate alot. There was a book someone gave me called Bed Rest by Sarah Bilston,I could borrow it to you, aside from some language it was really funny and could relate to alot. I red baby whisperer and baby wise got any tips on how to be a mom. Maybe do scripture studying. remember it is the only rest you are going to get for several months...Sorry. I get bored after about 5 min of an activity so I was going crazy. Just remember only 10 more days.
Oh No! This does not sound fun at all. Sophie and I would love to come "play." We're home most of the day so I'll talk to you about that on Sunday.
Have fun stitching by hand! :)
