Busy Little Sewer

Whew! This last weekend has been really productive. We played musical furniture between our house and my parent house. We got the bunk beds set up in Lowe's room and moved everything else around in the office/sewing room/guest room and got the baby's room all set up...furniture wise.

Here's a picture of Lowe's big boy bed! The quilt ended up looking awesome if I can say so myself. Lowe really likes it and has actually slept in his bed for the last 3 nights! He's only gotten out of it once last night because he wanted to watch the baseball game with daddy. Pretty good huh? We've got the pack and play set up still because he won't take his naps in the bunk bed...at least he still takes them in the pack and play!
I got the set of three blankets finished for the nursery, the three pillowcases and the bedskirt!!! I also have the quilt top done but since I'm not done done with the quilt, a picture of that will have to wait until later!
The pillowcases and blanket set are from sew4home.com and the bed skirt is from aloadofcraft.blogspot.com. I love how other people can come up with this stuff so I can make it!!!
Here's a close up of the pillows...the striped black and pindot green are from the Robert Kaufman Pimatex Basics collection (that's the one I picked out for the nursery...) and the light blue just matches the collection so I got it from Joanns.
Here's a close up of the three blankets. The one on the left is the "Baby Bear Blanket"...it has flannel on the back and a decorative stitch around the edge. The middle one is the "Mama Bear Blanket" and it's got minky dot on the back and jumbo ric rac around the edge. Jumbo ric rac is now just about my favorite embellishment...and the blanket on the right is the "Papa Bear Blanket" and it's just two cotton fabrics with a bound edge. All the blanket tops and the binding are from the Robert Kaufman fabric collection.
Here's about the best close up I could get of the bedskirt...it's pleated with cobalt blue fabric from Joanns that matches the striped fabric from the RK collection. I had to fussy cut that striped one to get the stripes to run up and down. I also had to cut a bunch of ties from that same striped fabric for the bumper pads I've got in the works and those were fussy cut also! I almost didn't have enough fabric since the stripes ended up running the opposite way than I thought they would have! But it all worked out!
So yeah to getting things done! I can't wait to finish the quilt and make the bumper pads. I've ended up with a lot of extra fabric from the collection so I'm super excited to make some other smaller items like burp cloths, binky straps, maybe a nursing cover or carseat canopy...we'll see how ambitious I get!
